Sister Lucy FMSJ formally retired from her role as the Day Centre Manager in October, 2021 after over 20 wonderful years of working with people who are homeless, isolated or seeking asylum.
Sr Lucy has been a guiding light for the mission and delivery of services from the Cornerstone project since 2002. Building on the work of founders, Canon Kevin O’Connor and Sister Pauline Gaughan, Sister Lucy became renowned for sharing her time and caring for every person as an individual, reflecting their innate human dignity.
Now in her 80’s, it was necessary for Sister to shield away from the front line as a precaution during the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. After this period she has retired to a house with other members of her religious order, the Franciscan Missionaries of St Joseph. Our team of amazing staff, volunteers and supporters greatly miss Sister’s presence, however, she will continue to be in touch on a regular basis, encouraging the work and visiting when she can.
While we will miss her daily presence, leadership and good company, we know that Sister Lucy’s legacy remains in the work that we do. If you would like to contact Sister Lucy, please contact Cornerstone or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
