Cornerstone turned my life around

I first visited Cornerstone years ago when it was in the Portacabin. I was a heroin addict, had a drink problem and lived a Chaotic lifestyle. I had never really had a job and my life revolved around prison and I became very ill, so I was in and out of hospital.

In a sentence I was more of a pest than a person and was basically stumbling around life with no idea what day it was.

One day I was found 'dead' on the streets, miraculously revived and was taken to intensive care. On discharge I continued on heroin and alcohol.

One day at Cornerstone, one of the support workers referred me to Nacro where I went, but, it was only while there they said unless I went into detox I would have to leave or they would find me dead in bed one day! I agreed reluctantly and in days I went in. Since being there I haven't drank. Nacro helped me to get a float and through life line and N A Meetings I have been abstinent from drink and drugs for one year. Without the initial referral from Cornerstone and their continued love and support I don't beleive I would be here today. God Bless you all!
