80 years on and poverty is still with us

In 1937 George Orwell wrote a book that shocked the country called The Road to Wigan Pier about the poverty in Northern England. Now 80 years on Claire Donnelly and camera man Andy is retracing his route telling the stories of Austerity Britain in their Wigan Pier project. Claire and Andy spent the morning at Cornerstone, spent time with Sr Lucy and chatted with clients about their struggles. They listened to many sad stories, Claire took notes and Andy with clients permission took photographs. 80 years on and poverty is still with us, homelessness at the highest level ever and families struggling often having to decide do we eat or pay our bills. Makes one wonder!!!!!
What a delight to meet Claire and Andy, hope you got some good stories and hope Andy’s air brushing works
